Copyright Law

Copyright law encompasses a variety of works, including sculpture, art, literature, music, songs, software, video games, graphics, movies, choreography, crafts, poetry, photography, videos, websites, and architecture. The creator of a work is automatically the owner of the copyright at the moment the work is fixed in a tangible medium of expression, as long as it is sufficiently creative and original. However, the creator cannot sue a potential infringer of that work for damages unless the work has been federally registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.

The Firm’s attorneys can assist in a wide range of copyright law matters, including:

    * Federal registration of copyrights with the U.S. copyright office
    * Copyright assignment
    * Work made for hire agreements
    * Copyright infringement litigation
    * Licensing agreements for derivative works
    * Website copyright disputes
