Experience

Maureen Duignan worked for five years as an Assistant Public Defender in Pensacola before joining Shell, Fleming, Davis & Menge in 1988. Ms. Duignan specializes in criminal trials and also practices in the area of family law. In the Public Defender's Office she obtained a great deal of criminal defense trial experience, handling criminal cases ranging from shoplifting to murder. She has been a Board-Certified criminal trial attorney since 1990 and is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, the Federal Court for the Northern District of Florida, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Ms. Duignan has served as President of the Society of the Criminal Defense Bar, Zonta Woman’s Club and the Northwest Florida Association of Women Lawyers. She is a Master in the Pensacola Inns of Court. She is an active member of the Escambia-Santa Rosa Bar Association, having served as chair of the Naturalization Committee and co-chair of the Family Law Committee. Ms. Duignan served as chair of the local Florida Bar Grievance Committee. She is a member of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.

Maureen received the 1992 Distinguished Service Award for Criminal Justice from the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency, and a Pro Bono Award from the Northwest Florida Legal Services. She was listed in “Who’s Who of Rising Young Americans,” 1993. She was named Boss of the Year in 1996 and is listed in the “Who’s Who of Executives and Professionals,” 2003.

Community Service

Maureen has served as a past board member of Northwest Florida Legal Services, Seville Sertoma Club,  and the Northwest Florida Arts Council.  She is a graduate of Leadership Pensacola (LeaP) 1988 and a former member of Impact 100 (2007).  Maureen serves as an usher and Eucharistic minister at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
