Experience
James A. Shea Jr. has 20 years of experience specializing in the litigation of construction, commercial and general liability defense litigation. He represents developers, contractors, subcontractors and materialmen in a broad range of disputes that include design defect, construction defect, breach of contract, Miller Act, claims of lien and lien foreclosure actions.
Jim also represents parties in commercial litigation disputes. This includes the prosecution and defense of breach of contract actions, non-compete agreements, indemnity and subrogation actions, FDUTPA claims, as well as real estate and real estate commission disputes.
Mr. Shea also defends businesses in general liability litigation. These include wrongful death, premises liability, commercial auto accident claims, and other negligence causes of action.
He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, including its construction, toxic tort, professional negligence and product liability committees. He is the author of the Florida Chapter of the 2010 DRI Construction Law Compendium. Mr. Shea is also a member of the Council on Litigation Management, Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Windstorm Insurance Network, and the Home Builders Association of Northwest Florida.
Mr. Shea is approved counsel for D.R. Horton, Chase Home Finance, The Home Depot, CVS Pharmacies, GE Capital, Vulcan Materials, Exide Technologies, Archer Western, Amerisure Insurance, Arch Insurance, Sentry Insurance, Clarendon Insurance, First Mercury, Liberty Mutual, Deep South, QBE Americas, USF Insurance, Pennsylvania Lumberman’s Mutual Insurance Company, as well as other regional and local companies. He is also an A.M. Best listed attorney.

Mr. Shea is a member of Leadership Pensacola (LeaP) class of 2010. He also coaches youth baseball. He has served on the Tiger Point Sports Association Board of Directors and the Santa Rosa County District 5 Recreational Advisory Committee.
